Thrills, Chills, and Cabin Fever

Joe’s Log – Supplemental – Day 10…

All that remains is the journey back to our point of disembarkation: Dover, England. I am getting some much needed rest in the remaining 2 ½ days here at sea.

Today’s journey consisted of a breakfast of melon and smoked salmon benedict, mid-morning nap at 10:30am, lunch of chili dog and chips, afternoon nap at 2pm, snack of 1 ½ scones with cream and strawberry jam… I think you’re getting the picture.

The ship is particularly full today, with everyone making the most of their remaining time onboard. In fact the ship feels almost too full. Every nook and cranny of this ship is packed to capacity, and there seems to be no respite from the crowds. I thought I had found a quiet place in a deck chair on the promenade, when out of nowhere, two Italians decided to stand right next to me, when basically the rest of the promenade is vacant, to light up their cigarettes. I decide to leave without issuing a protest…sigh.

That’s what the other portion of the day consisted of, dealing with the other passengers. This cruise would be so fantastic if it weren’t for the other passengers. I think that’s what the crew members say on a daily basis.

Tonight’s entertainment was particularly good for cruise fare. Essentially a rip-off of Cirque de Soleil, it was billed as “Cirque Bijoux”, with scantily clad NCL dancers performing tricks of amazing acrobatics, and I believe that the scantily clad portion of it explains the bulk of the attendance. And then for the biggest thrill of the evening, the ship passed under the 3rd largest suspension bridge in the world, even larger than the Golden Gate. For a time it seemed like the top of the ship would be scraped off, but thankfully, the ship cleared.

Well, onto the last night’s event, the heavily billed “White Hot Nights” party, where all are encouraged to wear white. I will be decked out in my white hot long sleeved white tee. Maybe I might even have one drink, who knows.

End log…

Oh, I love Cirque du Soleil! One day, if I have enough money, I'll buy you your own cruise liner (complete with crew and hot waiters).

Ha ha!! Do i get extra credit too??? :) Anyway, i agree with you guys about the passengers-we had some interesting ones on our cruise too! At one point James and i had found an empty table to sit and play cards at. An older couple asked if they could sit down and share the table to eat their lunch. We were like, sure, why not? Little did we know the husband would talk to us for 2 hours!!! And of course we couldn't play cards while we were chatting. He was nice and all but we were on vacation!! LOL

Ms. Lagrimas!

"White Hot Nights Party"? How P. Diddy-esque. Don't party too hard now with your long sleeve shirt.

Good to know that your vacation is treating you well aside from the other passengers.
